DWELLING IN THE SECRET PLACE (CONTINUED)

Our lives are busy and our schedules overflowing with commitments difficult to keep up with. But, if we want to receive God’s best for our lives and fulfill His glorious destiny for us, then we had better pencil in quality time to get to know Him and hear His voice. This is the only way we can know His will and receive the valuable instruction and impartation from the Holy Spirit that we need to walk daily in His blessings.

Psalm 91, often called the protection psalm, gives us an enlightening description of what we can expect from God when we meet Him in the “secret place.” Verse 1 AMPC says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].

In today’s world, there are many dangers, terror and tragedies that occur, sometimes very close to home. Verses 5–7 (below) promise safety in the midst of a terror threat, a hurricane, or a mass shooting. Though others all around you, great masses of people, come to harm, you will go through it untouched. Why? Because you’ve made the Lord your dwelling place, and the enemy can’t touch you there.

5 You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day, 6 Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.

A Prayer for You

Dear God, I make You my dwelling place and will daily meet with You in this “secret place.” I thank You for Jesus, whose sacrifice opened the way for me to share my heart and thoughts with You, knowing that You will always be there for me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
