A DREAM COME TRUE (CONTINUED)

As a 6-year-old child, I spent much of my time in my room writing stories and drawing pictures. I had a vivid imagination, and I found this more exciting than playing tag with the kids in the neighborhood. “When I grow up, I’m going to be a teacher,” I thought to myself. “No, I think I’ll be a writer.”

So, I grew up…After quitting high school, my first job was in a suburban factory assembling parts, then in a succession of different jobs. I had long since forgotten my childhood aspiration of being a teacher or a writer, and I reasoned, “I don’t have enough education for those careers anyway.”

Sometime later, while I was looking for a new job, I volunteered in a Christian ministry. I shared with my supervisor that I needed full-time work, so they connected me with their headquarters office in California, which just happened to have a position open.

Would you believe it—the job was for a writer AND editor position combined. I was interviewed, and despite my lack of both education and bona fide experience, I was hired on the spot for not just an entry-level position, but my new title would be Chief Editor and Writer. Wow, this was a blessing that I wasn’t qualified for, but God showered me with His favor and grace. He made my childhood dream come true and gave me the best salary I’d ever had prior to that job!

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV).

A Prayer for You

Dear God, thank you that You have not forgotten me or the desires of my heart. I praise You for all the good things You’ve already done, and believe by faith that You will complete Your good plans in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
